Help needed to check my wiring before power up.

    http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...uch/wiring.jpg

Hi I bought a couple of these S series Minas drives off ebay. Im about to power them on for a test, there is an inline AC filter and a 3 amp fuse in the plug, should this be sufficent to test the drive without any load? Should I be using the green ground termianls on the drive, you can see them in the picture above. What should I connect them to?

    Cheers

The ground conductor appears to be connected from filter to drive via the 3 conductor cabke?
The supply to the filter should include a service ground.

Yes thats right there is a ground from the filter to the drive, the filter also has all three cables attached to the supply ie neutral, live and Earth.

So I should be ok to plug into the mains?

You should be OK to connect as you suggest, as long as the filter is rated for 240vac.
Normally these filters require a ground to function as some of the components are referenced to ground.
Although it would not stop power up.
There is also the safety aspect anyway.

Well I flipped the switch... and everything seems ok. :rainfro: Green lights and no funny noises or smoke.

Now I need to hook up my Step and Direction signal from Mach, I dont have a breakout board yet so I was planning on just using an old printer cable and some terminal blocks to connect the wires and keep them from touching. Is a breakout board really required are there any safety features that will protect my drive from damage? apart from optoisolation which I hear is more for the pc's benifit than the drive.
