CIMAC CONGRESS: great success


The 31st CIMAC World Congress brought together around 1,000 experts in the fields of combustion engines, drive technology, and power generation.
After five intensive days, the 31st CIMAC World Congress, one of the most important platforms for exchange between the engine industry, technical experts, and users, came to an end in Zurich. CIMAC is the leading global non-profit association promoting the development of ship propulsion, train drive and power generation. and provides a forum for technical interchange with all parties interested in piston engines, gas turbine systems, non-shaftline propulsion systems, automation and controls, system integration and digitalization solutions.
The CIMAC Congress takes place every three years. It brought together around 1,000 experts from over 20 countries in Zurich. The program offered more than 200 lectures, posters, and Pecha Kucha presentations, as well as panel discussions and an accompanying exhibition. In addition to the path to CO2 neutrality, the conference program focused on digitalization and automation, engine optimization and retrofitting, and basic research.
CIMAC Congress President Dominik Schneiter (WinGD) highlighted significant progress in renewable fuels and the growing importance of digitalization in the industry. CIMAC President Rick Boom (Woodward) expressed his appreciation to the hosts and emphasized the importance of personal exchange. The next CIMAC World Congress will be held in three years, in May 2028, and will be jointly hosted by the Dutch and Belgian CIMAC members.
The VDMA and CIMAC work closely together, particularly in the field of combustion engines and digitalization, and the VDMA supports the organization and implementation of the CIMAC World Congress.
