COP 29: Facing Challenges with Hope

The 29th global climate meeting, COP 29, has started during tough times. The latest UNEP report says we can still reach the 1.5-degree Celsius goal, but only if we cut CO2 emissions by 42% by 2030 compared to 2019. The plans we have now won't get us there, and people aren't expecting much from the summit. This is partly because of the recent US election and some important leaders not attending.
But there's good news too: we have the technology we need, and it's being used. Almost a third of the world's electricity comes from renewable sources like wind and solar. Plus, we have tech solutions like Power-to-X that can help in areas where we can't use electricity directly. So, while the situation is challenging, there's still hope that with the right actions, we can meet the climate goals.
