VDMA welcomes the EU Commission's proposal

The European Commission’s proposed 2040 climate target has been welcomed by the VDMA. Thilo Brodtmann praised the EU’s continued ambition and emphasized the key role of mechanical engineering in global climate protection. He supports the idea of allowing emission reductions in non-EU countries to count toward EU goals, as this could accelerate the global deployment of climate technologies.
To make this work, clear regulations and sufficient investment are essential. Brodtmann urges the European Parliament and Council to adopt the target swiftly, stressing the importance of a unified EU position ahead of the COP30 summit in November.
